On 25 May, the band got arrested.
Robert: "We used to go to Holland a fair bit so we got to know a few people there and we would usually go to this club in Rotterdam called The Heavy Club - actually it was just an after-hours drinking place. One night Lol disappeared into the phone booth and couldn't find the light switch. He claims he thought it was a particularly small toilet and this woman found him in the booth with his trousers round his ankles so we got thrown out. We then went off in the van, the four of us and Mac, the lighting man, to the beach for some swimming - this was about 6.30 in the morning. The other three fell asleep but me and Mac went in. There was actually a No Swimming sign but we threw that in the sea. Unfortunately, some old lady looked out of her window and was affronted by what she saw and called the police.
"It was quite surreal. I was really dazed; we were walking out of the sea when over these sand dunes, came a police van, two police cars, and four armed policemen with their guns out, all shouting at us. Well,we thought 'This can't be happening!'. We picked up our clothes and they immediately threw us in the backof the van and said we were under arrest for public indecency.
"None of us had any real money - we just emptied out our pockets of change and said 'Take anything you want. Divide it between you. Just let us go and we'll get back to the hotel and go to bed. It will be much easier'. Mac had a fit, I was actually holding him down. He was shouting 'Call the British Embassy'!' and I said 'Mac, we're not calling anyone and they're going to shoot us if you shout anymore'. They took a couple of cassettes, rifled through what we had and let us go. It could have been worse!"
