The Advert above suggests that there was a second The Cure concert at I-Beam the same day at 11 pm. Anyone can confirm?
Simon: "Robert and I nearly died that night. After the gig, someone gave us two quaaludes each with the recommendation that we shouldn't take more than half at a time. Well, we took the lot, went out to a club and started to feel really ill, y'know, we'd passed out but we were still walking around. I remember Lol took us into the toilets and tried to bring us back to life and, in the taxi back to the hotel, he was so seriously worried we were gonna die that he picked a fight with us just so we'd react."
Robert: "I don't remember very much about any of that period of time. I think San Francisco was the night of the Royal Wedding and ... we couldn't acclimatise to those American dates at all - two nights in New York and then straight across to the West Coast ludicrous really. We were completely out of it on that first night and the second night.... well, Bill maintains it was our worst ever concert. He says he doesn't know to this day how I didn't fall over. I really don't remember it at all."
"I think we then went straight to Pasadena and then to the Whiskey A Go Go in LA. I remember running to the hotel in tears after that gig so I must have been in a bad way. There were so many people backstage and they were all coming up to me and all I could see were faces...faces... faces. I think I was hallucinating ..."
