The Cure also played in Italy, supported by The Associates and, on 27 July, they performed at a festival in the Antic Panathinaikos Stadium in Athens on a bill featuring Nina Hagen, Talk Talk and Telephone. The night before, Boy George of Culture Club was stoned by the audience and Mary took over the hotel bar.Simon: "It was as if England had won the World Cup we went down so well. We were booked third on the bill so we were like underdogs. It was one of our classic concerts, really great."
