from the book 'Ten Imaginary Years'
On 15 May, The Cure played the Pink Pop Festival in Holland followed by a stint of miming on "very dodgy Europop TV shows".
Note: In fact, Cure played at Pink Pop on 19 May, and the TV shows were recorded in the days leading up to it.
The performance by The Cure meant a great comeback for Pinkpop in 1986. For 125,000 guilders, 45,000 visitors attended a sold-out festival with The Waterboys and The Cult (Robert Smith fled from the Cult) in Geleen. "We then had The Blow Monkeys, well, sometimes you have an act like that that you wonder about now and are not proud of. In the folder Jan finds a Stevie Ray Vaughan contract. "The gig was cancelled then because Stevie had a fear of flying. Unfortunately he crashed a month later, one of the best guitarists, a shame". In the attachment of additional requirements of the performance at Pinkpop 1986 of The Cure, we read along with Jan. 3 bottles of red wine Nuit Saint George Beaujoulais (I agree), white wine, vodka, 48 large cans of Heineken beer (again, a classy taste), grapefruit juice, but also 6 different kinds of English cheese. And a well-ventilated changing room with dimmed lights and facilities to do the laundry.
