Robert Smith, lead singer of the Cure, will be heading back home to London due to personal reasons after his performance at the Curiosa Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 18th. This will result in the rescheduling of the Seattle show at The Gorge on August 21st. The Cure will now play a special show, "An Evening With The Cure," in Seattle on August 31st at The Everette Centre. Tickets for the August 21st Curiosa Festival date will be honored at the show on August 31st. For more information please log on to www.thecure.com.
'Curiosa Festival's show on Saturday is postponed'
The Curiosa Festival, a touring rock fest headlined by The Cure and featuring Interpol, The Rapture, Mogwai and other bands, has postponed this Saturday's show at The Gorge Amphitheatre.
House of Blues Concerts, The Gorge's owner and operator, encourages ticketholders to hang onto their tickets until a new date, and possibly site, are announced for the show -- hopefully within 24 hours.
A spokeswoman for Geffen Records told the P-I yesterday the festival was postponed because Robert Smith's manager had notified the label that The Cure's lead singer had to travel to London on "family matters."
